AMELIA HEAFEY (CLASS OF 2012)
Thursday, 12 December 2019

After completing her Bachelor of Commerce at Macquarie University, Amelia pursued her dream career as a Police Officer. Amelia’s career is challenging, fulfilling, and gives her the opportunity to work amongst a team of incredible people. Amelia proved her commitment to her chosen profession by undertaking eight months of intensive training at the Police Academy in Goulburn. Training was not easy, as new recruits are required to learn a range of new skill sets in areas involving weapons and defence tactics, law, communication and fitness. The skills and knowledge Amelia gained proved extremely useful when she began her operational career protecting and serving the community as a Constable with the North Shore Police Area Command.

In August 2019, Amelia and her team received national recognition for their quick-thinking police work and bravery after risking their lives to rescue multiple elderly residents from a fire in an aged care home in Lindfield. Amelia expresses that, “Being able to help people and keep them safe is one of the many rewards of the job, and the reason myself and fellow officers put their lives on the line every day.”

Amelia enjoys the challenges and variety that a career in the NSW Police Force brings, and she has strong aspirations to one day join the NSW Mounted Police Unit, combining her passion for horses with her career.
